Location Specific Pages Ranking or Not At All

My Carrot site, www.sellknoxvillemobilehomefast.com, has been live for around 3 weeks and I have gotten great results!

I am ranking #1 for many search term that are location-specific, however some location specific pages either do not rank for my keyword search, has another location-specific page ranked in its place, or another page within my site ranked.

Any helpful tips/suggestions that could correct this?

Will time and content creation improve this over time?

Is it possible Google may be behind on keywords/locations that have a lower search volume?

Here are a few examples for reference:

This one is correct! Even linked a blog!

This one ranks the main site, but not the location specific page. https://www.sellknoxvillemobilehomefast.com/sell-mobile-home-fast-blountville-tn/

This result ranks incorrect pages as well. https://www.sellknoxvillemobilehomefast.com/sell-mobile-home-fast-morristown-tn/

This ranking lists an incorrect location-specific page.

Hi @cfrench23 and thanks for this question!

When I search this page (https://www.sellknoxvillemobilehomefast.com/sell-mobile-home-fast-blountville-tn/) that should be ranking for Blountville, I find Knoxville mentioned 7 times. You can do this search on any web page by control + f on a pc and command + f on a mac, then type in the word of phrase you want to search in the box that pops up at the top of the browser window. You can move through the places where the word of phrase is mentioned with the up and down arrows. You can stop the search by clicking on the X.

I recommend getting the google chrome extension called SeoQuake (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/seoquake/akdgnmcogleenhbclghghlkkdndkjdjc). SeoQuake will allow you to look at the density of all the words on each site page. You should be looking for a density of around 1.75% to 2% for your most important keywords. You want to do this in a conversational way that makes sense and sounds natural rather than repeating things in a robotic way.

Because Knoxville is mentioned on the same page as Blountville, this is confusing google. You will need to go through all of your location pages and make sure Knoxville isn’t competing so closely with the main city on that page. It’s ok if Knoxville is in the footer. Just replace it with the specific city from each page in the main body of the page.

You can also use SeoQuake to compare what you are doing on your site to the top 3 competitors. This will give you more of an exact target.

It looks like you removed all of the shortcodes that would make this task easier so this will be a very manual process. The shortcodes look like this:

[market_city] and [market_state]

You can find more info about shortcodes he (https://help.carrot.com/tutorial/shortcodes-used-within-carrot/) and how to use them for location pages here (https://help.carrot.com/tutorial/override-market-settings/).

I also recommend cleaning up your footer navigation menu to not include your location pages. I recommend creating a reusable block that you can add somewhere towards the middle to bottom of each page that has all of the locations you buy neatly organized in 3 columns. Just mention the location and don’t repeat “Sell My Mobile Home Fast In”. These extra words make it really hard to see all of the locations. Then link up each location to the page for that location. Here’s an example of how this might look:

Don’t get caught up on the styling. Just make it easy for your site visitors to read.

Here’s more info on keyword cannibalization (when keywords mentioned on different pages compete against each other) here (https://carrot.com/blog/keyword-cannibalization/) and here (https://help.carrot.com/tutorial/keyword-cannibalization/).

I know this is a lot of info. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I missed anything.

I’m making changes to the site and I’ve started having an issue where my form is now disappearing after making changes to my text.

Any idea what could be causing this?

The page is being published but it is not showing on the published site..

Hi @cfrench23,

When I went into that page, I didn’t see a form.

I duplicated that page as a test that’s currently set to draft mode.

Does this test page look right?

Thanks for your help with this.

@cfrench23 I’m seeing some classic blocks added to all the pages above Dandridge. There is some weirdness happening with those blocks.

I don’t recommend proceeding with these changes.
